Lower Back Pain? How To Get Some Relief

Blog

Lower back pain can cause problems with sleeping, sitting, walking, and doing other things as well. It can make mundane daily tasks difficult and leave you in constant pain. This can make healing all that much more difficult. Going to the chiropractor can help to offer you some relief. In between your chiropractic visits, there are a few things you can do. Read on for tips that may help offer you some relief from your back pain.

Take An Over-The-Counter Pain Reliever

Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever can help offer you some temporary relief from your back pain. You should only use the pain reliever as directed, and consult your physician if you have any health concerns while taking the medication. This may only offer you temporary relief, but it can help with any swelling or inflammation as well.

Sit Up Straight

Sit up straight and stop hunching over when you are sitting and doing anything, including working. Hunching over can cause you even more lower back pain. It may feel good for a little while to hunch over and stretch the muscles in your back, but you may be causing more problems for yourself. You may be over-stretching your back by hunching over, so just sit up straight and keep your back up against the back of the chair with your feet flat on the floor.

Walk With Your Body In Alignment

When you walk, keep your body in alignment with your hips and shoulders in alignment. Don't walk hunched over, and keep your arms down at your sides when you walk. Keep your head straight, not down or up, as this can cause strain in your back. If you aren't walking with a proper gait, it can cause more back problems for yourself.

Sleep With Extra Pillows And On A Supportive Mattress

Sleep with extra pillows to give you enough support on your back and your neck, and sleep on a mattress that is supportive for your hips and back. If you need to, invest in a new mattress and new pillows that help with this. If you wake up in the morning and you're sore and feel tired even after a full night's sleep, your mattress and pillows may be to blame. Invest in a more supportive mattress and pillows.

If you have lower back pain, there are things you can do to help get relief from the pain. Get to the chiropractor for relief, and use the information above to help with the pain in between your chiropractic adjustments.

Getting Serious About Your Back Pain

Do you remember the first day you woke up with back pain? If you are like most folks, you probably tried to write off the problem until you realized that the issue was impacting your mobility. Back pain is serious, but not everyone takes the issue seriously at first. Not only can a little back spasm make it hard to shower, walk, or even sit comfortably, but back pain can also be a symptom of a deeper problem. The goal of my blog is to educate the public about back pain, so that you know how to tell when you are really in trouble.
